I scissor-sculpted the two-toned fur to look like scales. :)

no i usually dont die it, but will airbrush on color for markings or to blend two fur colors.

Wow, I didn't know you could do that and have it come out looking so nice. I always thought painting the fur would make it stick together as with colored hairspray. :confused: That's very neat!

nothing, fur was pre-colored this way. red with white tips.

well then, in general do you ever dye faux fur... if so, whats used?
just wondering.... about you're sculpted heads... are you self taught?

I airbrush with acrylics... not sure that dying synthetic fur is possible, havnt tried tho.
As far as sculpting goes I would say I'm semi-self taught... I did take ceramics in high school and college along with a 3 dimensional art class.

I think this one is one of my favorites in your gallery because the way you did the scales really incorporates the sculpey head into the rest of the body. :) The scales are a very wonderful technique that gives the creature a very detailed and original look for a plush! Simply beautiful work here.

Sometimes I get the Fur remnant bundles they have, thats what this came in.
They put the leftover special orders in them.
